From Scratch Cupcakes

Wedding Cakes & Baked Goods

Riley Harris is the owner and founder of From Scratch Cupcakes. She began the business in 2012 as a 13-year-old out of her parent’s kitchen. While starting in cupcakes, From Scratch has grown to offer a wider assortment of products such as wedding cakes, brownies, and specialty items. Over the years, she has continued to grow her clientele, catering graduation parties, weddings, and photoshoots.

All of these accomplishments led her to travel to London, England in the fall of 2017 to study at the Peggy Porschen Academy. While in London, Riley earned 5 diplomas in areas like decorating techniques, baking layering and icing, wedding cakes, tiered wedding cakes, and sugar flowers.

The one factor above all that makes From Scratch stand out in the crowd is its dedication to quality. Each cake is made from scratch, using only quality ingredients. Each design and assortment is hand-crafted by Riley herself, giving special attention to the often-overlooked detail.

When to book a wedding cake?

When booking a wedding I usually recommend 4-6 months in advance to secure your date and give your wedding cake artist time to finalize all the details.

The experience (what brides are to expect).

As a bride, you should expect nothing but the best from anyone in the wedding industry! For my personal business brides have endless opportunities to discuss their dream wedding with me personally.

Why should brides have a professional baked goods?

Having professional baked goods is just another way to express your unique style and create your dream wedding.

What is your favorite part about your job?

One of my favorite parts of my job is the connections I make every day not only with my customers but will other small businesses.

Tips For Brides

  • Give yourself enough time to book and finalize all the details.
  • Choose the flavor you want, not what you think everyone else wants. Simple and bold flavors create a well-rounded deserts table.
  • Inspiration pictures are a great way to display your ideas but don’t expect your wedding cake artist to copy someone else’s work. Your wedding cake artist will create a cake similar to the pictures but with their own style.
  • Creating the budget. It’s recommended that 5-10% of the total wedding budget is used for the cake or dessert table.
  • Understanding the cost. When creating your wedding cake there are multiple factors that contribute to the total cost of the cake. Some of the factors are size, flavor, and amount of details.
