What Is Your Wedding Fitting Experience?

We make it our mission to make each bride feel special and beautiful as she finds her perfect gown! Many of our designers offer custom changes to make to give the bride exactly what she wants. Once a bride says “Yes” to her dress, of course, we do a little celebrating with her and her entourage! We also walk them through the measuring and ordering process. We assure them that we are going to be there with them every step of the way! When a bride purchases her gown at White of Dublin, she becomes part of our family.

How do you stand out from other bridal stores?

Our bridal shopping experience is unparalleled. We pride ourselves in complete customer care from the beginning through your wedding day, and beyond! We love to hear from our brides who have had babies, and gotten promotions! It’s a family here at White of Dublin. Our designers and our staff make all the difference. We have a strong emphasis on teamwork and truly believe our hand-selected selected designers care about our brides as much as we do.

What are some of your favorite designers or trends for this season?

Where to begin? We love them all! Some of our most coveted designers include Galia Lahav, Ian Stuart, and Martina Liana. Galia Lahav is currently one of the most sought-after designers in the world! Galia combines luxurious fabrics with sexy and unique gowns that can never be duplicated by anyone else. Ian Stuart hails from London where he creates exquisite fashion forwards gowns with incredible structure and a mothers line that is to die for! Martina Liana has a dress for every bride. She knows how to do lace and beading in all the right places to make brides feel divine!

Some huge trends we’ve seen lately have been a growing interest in 3D appliqué, off the shoulder gowns are continuing to wow our brides, and all over sparkle! The 3D appliqué is giving new life to traditional lace. It keeps it soft and romantic while really dialing up the dimension of a gown. As for off the shoulder, whether it’s a simple strap or a full sleeve, brides are loving this feminine detail that compliments their shoulders just right. Lastly, all over sparkle is being asked for more and more. And we aren’t talking about beading or “bling”; we mean gowns that are covered in glitter and sequins. This allows dresses to be softer and more lightweight without all of the beading weighing the dress down.

When should brides start dress shopping?

We recommend that a bride purchase her gown one year from her wedding. Because our gowns are couture, they often take more time to create. On average, it takes 6-8 months for special order bridal gowns to be delivered. Once a bride has her gown in her hands, she will also need alterations done to make it fit like a glove for the entirety of her wedding.

Should brides just try things on or do homework first (look for styles they like)?

We love it when brides come in having a pretty good idea of what they want to look like for their big day. While we always recommend keeping an open mind for first time shoppers, we also want brides to know that it’s OK to rule out styles and let them go when they have tried them on and haven’t loved them. If a bride has tried on three different A-lines and hasn’t loved any of them because it looks too full, it’s safe to say A-line isn’t for her and she can then focus on another style that makes her look and feel beautiful.

What is the best way to put on a wedding gown?

We always prefer to have a bride step into a wedding gown and pull it up. It’s the easiest way to make sure all the layers stay where they’re supposed to be. Also, this helps on the big day when she has her hair and makeup was done perfectly, it won’t mess anything up and she doesn’t have to worry about getting anything on her dress!

Tips for brides-to-be

Brides need to know that they don’t need to go everywhere and try on every single dress! This will make it a long, stressful, exhausting process when it’s supposed to be easy and fun. Sometimes they may go to their first store, and won’t love anything – and that’s OK! But if a bride is at her first appointment, and falls IN LOVE with a dress, she needs to trust herself and go for it! She didn’t need to keep dating before she accepted her Fiancé’s proposal, did she? It’s the same concept! The heart wants what it wants. As long as a bride listens to herself, she can’t go wrong.
