Three Little Words

The Story Of Us

After our first date, Musa knew he wanted to marry me. I wasn’t quite on the same level as he was yet. I truly wasn’t looking for a relationship, I was loving my job and my time out in Ohio. But, it wasn’t long for me to know that this relationship was different and that very quickly I was falling for this man.

Over the last few weeks, we’d never say “I love you” but rather, “I realllllllly like you.” Our text messages went something like this: “I really like you, sweet dreams.” or ” I really like you, have a good day.” It was SO ridiculous. But neither of us wanted to be the first one to say those three words.

One day, we were over at his parent’s house. I wore a sweet little floral dress. It was one of my favorite dresses at the time. His mom asked us to go into the basement to grab some dishes for dinner. I know that sounds strange, but she stores a lot of things in the basement! Anyways we went downstairs and Musa grabbed my waist and pulled me in for a kiss.

The next scene is super silly but totally us. After gazing into each other’s eyes, I said: “I really like you.” Musa replied, “I really like you too.” After a few seconds, I built up the courage to say, “I more than just really like you.” Musa replied back, “I more than just really like you too.” Man, this boy was stubborn!!! He was going to make me say I love you first!! I replied, “I love you.” Musa FINALLY said, “I love you too.”

After talking about this silly scene months later, Musa was just SO afraid if he told me he loved me on our first date, I’d run away. And, he was probably right, that might have scared me a bit!

That is our silly, totally us story on who said I love you first! Wait until you hear about how he asked for my hand!
