The Story Of Us

August 27, 2016

My favorite part of our wedding day was the ceremony. To vow our lives in front of God, family, and friends was a moment I will never forget. Musa and I wrote our own vows for our wedding day. We have these vows framed in our bedroom, so every morning we wake up, that is the first thing we see; a reminder of the love and promises we made to each other. I wanted to share them with you!

Becca’s Vows

Musa, I used to dream about finding my ultimate soul mate. In our world with billions of people, someone out there was meant for me. When you think about God’s plan, we truly only see the road ahead of us, and not the bird’s eye view. To think that I ended up here in Ohio and you journeyed across the world, only to meet in a predestined moment in time is truly the work of something greater than coincidence and greater than ourselves. That was the first spark that made me burn for you because you’ve shown me Perfect Love’s plan.  From so early on you became my life, my dreams, my future, and my family.

So I tell you now that these words that I say are not just words; they’re my attempt to convey to a man before God, family and friends that he is the only thing that I am ever going to need in this life.  So I am going to love you like it’s the first time I ever met you through better and most certainly through worse. I will love your family as my own, for in you I see home. I want to not only grow old with you but grow with you as we build our future. Today, as we begin our lives together, I promise to choose you, as your lover, companion, and friend when life is peaceful and when it’s painful during our successes, and during our failures, supported by your strengths, and accepting your weaknesses.  Musa, you are my once in a lifetime love, in you I have found my greatest and truest friend, and with that, I give you my heart and my life. Always Yours, Becca.

Musa’s Vows

Becca, Whenever I would sit down to write these vows to try and explain the love and passion that I feel for you, every fiber of my brain is ignited and all at once, every memory and emotion that we’ve created comes to life and cuts each other off. I long to portray all the love I feel for you right now, in this moment. Not the butterflies and stomach knots kind of love, but the love that brews stronger inside of me with every passing day as my selfish needs are blurred away and replaced with our souls entangling with one another. The story of how you came into my life was extremely unlikely and unpredictable, something that could have only been preordained by God himself. He gave me you on my birthday, my best friend.

Bec, from the first day I met you, I quickly made it a habit of mine to get lost in your beautiful eyes, as though everything around us would disappear and the only ones left in the room were you and I, a habit of sharing those side-splitting laughs over something so silly that only you and I would understand, and a habit of laying around and talking to you about how we would be standing here one day and all the precious memories we would make together soon after. Honey, that day has finally come and words cannot explain how excited and privileged I feel that you will be taking my hand and continuing with me on this incredible adventure, and for us to finally start making those everlasting memories that we talked about all those nights.

Becca, my beloved, my buddy, as we begin our legacy today before God and our dearest family and friends, I promise you that I will love you unconditionally today, and every other day. I promise to never leave your side and to be yours, and only yours. I promise to not only grow old together but grow together. I promise that I will hold you in my arms when you’re having a bad day and in that moment, I will remind you that you are everything that I find perfect in this life. I take you as the incredible woman you are now, and the one you are yet to become. As you take my hand to hold, I give you my life to keep, for as one lifetime with you will never be enough. Yours Forever, Musa.
