Golden Hour

The best time for photography sessions

Brides, one thing you should know about photographers is we live for golden hour! What’s golden hour you may ask? Golden hour is the magical time that happens twice a day, when the sun rises and when the sun sets. It is a time of day where dreams come true. The sun is on the brink of the horizon and the light is even and absolutely perfect across the landscape. There are no harsh shadows on your faces, no spots of shade, or bright highlights. This is a time where you look fabulous and photos have that romantic golden glow to them. There is no way to duplicate this magic, that is why photographer’s go CRAZY about it!

I LOVE to capture you during golden hour and always plan for sunset photos on your wedding day or during your photography session. One thing I like to note about sunset photos is the sun sets differently each day, season, and on your location. For engagement sessions, we normally start 1.5 hours before sunset. This gives us enough time to explore your location’s features, switch outfits, and find the perfect spot for sunset. On wedding days, when planning your wedding day timeline we roughly start when the sun is going to set (thank you Google for daily sunset times), but then I watch how the sun is setting on your location at that time. Sometimes we start sooner or later depending on if there are a lot of trees, buildings or obstacles in the way of that magical glow. You will not be disappointed with your golden hour photos and I absolutely love taking photos during this magical time!
