Our Musayev Life In Nashville, Tennessee: Baby On The Way!

“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you.”

Jeremiah 1:5

You guys, we’re having a BABY! Musa and I are just over the moon to welcome this little one into the world this winter, our hearts are SO full. We’ve been planning on starting a family earlier this year, hence trying to finish all of the projects around our house! Being a wedding photographer, I really wanted to have a baby during my offseason. I know that sounds a little out of the ordinary but the next few years are already booked out and I really wanted to be able to serve my couples 100% on their wedding days. I also wanted to be able to have a maternity leave and December through March normally is my slow season. But all in God’s timing so we truly prayed about that! Needless to say, the Lord answered our prayers!

Honestly, my relationship with God has been so much closer during this pregnancy. It is such a wonder, how God created women. We are designed for pregnancy and it has been so cool to see how my body has changed and just adapted to this new life change. Honestly, this pregnancy has been so easy so far. I haven’t had any morning sickness, fatigue, or other symptoms. To be honest, most days I don’t even feel pregnant. I know that will change, but I’m just so thankful for my now. So, I have SO much to fill you in! Let me start at the beginning, how I told Musa!

I knew I was pregnant pretty early on. All my pregnancy tests were negative but I just knew this crazy peaceful gut feeling. During a wedding back in April, I turned to Amanda (my bestie who was second shooting a wedding with me), and told her, I just know I’m pregnant! But I didn’t get a positive pregnancy test until the day of my missed period! I took a test but thought I messed it up so I threw it out, a few hours went by and I was emptying trash cans and saw two lines. I was SO excited but took another just in case! It was POSITIVE! I ran into Musa’s office and told him the good news! He was over the moon! I’ll never forget how he looked at me and embraced me, it was so surreal!

The next piece was when we were going to tell our parents! Both our parents were coming to my house for Easter! We thought that on our weekly waffle Sunday during grace would be the time! Sunday rolled around quite a few weeks later and I couldn’t contain my excitement!!! I somehow made it through making waffles without spilling the beans. We all sat down around the table, held hands, and I said grace. At the end of the prayer, I asked God to bless our little one on the way! Abby was filming their reactions. Needless to say, they were shocked and so ecstatic!!!! It was the perfect way to tell them and such a blessing to have both sets of parents there to share this special moment!

Our first ultrasound rolled around, Musa and I were SO excited to finally see our little one. I mean, I wasn’t showing, I barely felt pregnant, so you start to wonder, is something even in there?! We held our breath during the ultrasound and saw our little peanut! The heartbeat was so fast, and it measured healthy and right to date! As our ultrasound tech moved around, there wasn’t just one baby but TWO! My heart was racing, we knew this was a high probability as both Musa and I are loaded with twins on both sides of our families. However, this little angel stopped growing around 6 weeks. They would have been identical twins. Our hearts were truly joyful. We were sad we lost a little one but still were hopeful for the one that was there.

As a parent, all you want is for your children to be happy and healthy. This little one lived a safe, loving life in my womb and now gets to be with Jesus. For me, I couldn’t ask for anything better, my angel is in heaven. It was so bittersweet and full of so many emotions but we truly gave it up to God. And the little one in my womb has a guardian angel watching over it!

The good news is I am healthy and this baby is healthy. We are SO excited for the remaining journey of pregnancy, becoming parents, and welcoming this little one into the world this winter. Stay tuned for more updates on Baby Musayev! We are SO obsessed with these photos taken by the amazing Lindsay Reed Photography.
