Trends For 2019

Wedding Trends You Will See This Year

The wedding trends for 2019 are opting for a look and feel that is personalized, simple, eclectic, and natural. Weddings will feature a minimalist canvas with striking bold elements woven into the special event. Think natural, earthy, simple with a pop of the unexpected in the cuisine, decor, and florals. To start, you will be seeing wedding dresses featuring polka dots, crop tops, and asymmetrical designs. 2019 is all about playful, flirty romance! Polka dots on a wedding dress, you say! Yes! The fabrics are delicate and dreamy with the unexpected polka dot pattern. The asymmetrical elements show off a more edgy, fashion-forward, unconventional style with high low or slanted hemlines, or one shoulder silhouettes. A more modern look is the two piece wedding dress. Crop tops will appeal to the bride who wants to be cool, hip, and trendy. Ditch the traditional monochromatic tuxedo. Instead, grooms will see a mix and match of different fabrics and prints to create a more organic fashionable style, think of a modernized Great Gatsby! The influences are from the ’20s, but with a 2019 design flare!

The culinary cuisine for weddings will take on artistic edible food displays, think towers of macaroons, chocolate sculptures and an ice fountain of the couples favorite cocktail. Caterers are turning food into art and couples are loving incorporating them into the wedding decor.  Another popular food trend will be grazing tables. Buffets are out and no need for waiters to offer appetizers. Instead, guests can help themselves to bread, meats, fruits, cheeses, and so much more. Traditional wedding buffets are replaced with a more memorable option, the interactive food stations.  The sought after interactive stations will be guacamole bars, tea bars, S’more bars,  fondue bars and so much more!

As far as wedding decor, expect to see velvet linens creating a warm and cozy atmosphere. Wedding florals for 2019 will have earthy and nature-inspired elements of leafy green plants, crystals, and stones. Emphasis on structural floral installations on goldenrods, round metal hoops,  or wooden beams provides added floral drama to traditional floral centerpieces.  Fountain grasses will be used as fillers, think pampas grass,  which creates a modern, unique floral statement. To keep the floral trend earthy and natural, plants in ceramic or wooden boxes will be a popular choice for the tablescapes.

Signage has also become more artistic and creative as well. Gone are the old chalkboards. Hello, creative seating chart displays, light boxes and letter boards!  Like the artistic edible food trends, custom edible favors will be incorporated into the decor, think artisan olive oil, custom jams, sauces, and special spices to name a few. Copper is this year “it” metallic accent. Copper is modern and versatile. The unique pinkish-orange hue will add the shine to the tablescape in the form of the flatware, cups, candle holders, napkin rings.  The mixing and matching of the wedding attire, the decor elements, the fabrics, and tablescape decor lends to a more personalized natural “less polished” look.

Couples are not going after the rigid color palettes of one or two specific colors, but rather a range of complementary shades. Weddings will feature a minimalist canvas with striking bold elements woven into the event such as the trends as mentioned above. Think earthy, natural, simple but a pop of the unexpected in the decor, cuisine, florals, and wedding attire. Everything from invitations to wedding venues will get more simple. Couples want to avoid wedding waste. And couples and vendors are finding ways to prevent waste from sending digital RSVPs to choosing smaller floral arrangements or repurposing florals from the ceremony into the venue. So there you have it!  A few of the awesome 2019 trends you will see this year!
