Asking For My Hand

Asking For My Hand

The Story Of Us

Just to give you a timeline, I met Musa in January 2015 and I invited him to come home with me for Thanksgiving that November. Just 11 months from meeting, he was ready to ask for my hand in marriage. The entire drive back home to New York, Musa was so anxious! It was so sweet but also kind of funny at the same time!

We all kind of knew he was going to ask for my hand. We were talking about getting engaged for awhile and everyone knew we were simply meant to be! The day before Thanksgiving, my Mom and Musa had a long conversation in the garage. He had asked her for her blessing and she said YES! The only person left to ask was my Dad.

I am the eldest daughter in my family and the first to be married. We all were excited to see the “asking for her hand” conversation would go! Everyone, but Musa, that was! After an amazing Thanksgiving dinner and dessert prepared by my Dad, Musa asked him if they could talk. Knowing that this conversation would happen sometime that weekend, my Dad first said we need a sprite for this conversation. After pouring themselves a glass of Angel’s Envy Bourbon, they sat down in the living room.

My mom, sister, and I went upstairs to let Musa and my Dad have their chat. We excitingly tried to press our ears against the door, but couldn’t hear anything as the men were downstairs. After what felt like forever they called us back downstairs. Hugs, tears, and excitement followed. My Dad had given the blessing for Musa to marry me!! It truly made this holiday filled with even more gratitude and joy.

Now the suspense as to when Musa would pop the question followed over the next few weeks! Find out how Musa proposed next week!
